Press Release – November 24, 2003

Special Re-Registration for Muslim non-immigrants
from 24 states still in effect

The American Muslim Voice (AMV) would like to reiterate that, despite last week’s media reports,  the requirements of Special Re-Registration and Port of Entry Registration are still in effect.

The press reports indicated that the Bush administration wasconsidering cancellation of registration requirements. However, till this moment, all registration and re-registration requirements continue and failure to do so may have serious consequences.

Those affected by the INS registration regulations are still required to go through the annual re-registration requirement that is within 10 days before and 10 days after of their registration anniversary.

At the same time, those who were registered at the port of entry are still required to go through re-registration between days 30 and 40 of their entering the United States.
