FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                      March 11, 2004

AMV condemns Madrid bombings

March 11, 2004 - The American Muslim Voice today condemned deadly bomb attacks in Spain killing 190 people.

A series of explosions ripped through several packed commuter trains in the Spanish capital of Madrid during this morning's rush hour, killing at least 190 people and wounding at least 1,240, according to Spain's Interior Ministry.

The AMV statement reads:

We express our strongest condemnation of the carnage in Spain that represents one of the most heinous crimes committed against the people of Spain and the civilized world as a whole.

These vicious acts of terrorism deserve the strongest possible condemnation by all civilized people. Those who carry out such crimes only generate revulsion for whatever cause they espouse.

We offer condolences to the families of the victims, and to the people and government of Spain.  We call for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators.
