WE R ONE - Inter-Community Action Circle

A number of activists representing various civil right groups gathered at the Islamic Center in San Francisco in June 2003 to express their solidarity with the Muslim community in the wake of hate crimes and prejudice against the community. The meeting came after vandalism against the Islamic Center that sustained material serious damage. The activists expressed their deep concern over the mounting attacks on mosques and hate crimes against individuals. The gathering culminated in the formation of  Inter-Community Action Circle. The growing and intensifying assault by the government, including the FBI spying on Mosques, programs like INS Special Registration, secret detentions and deportations, Patriot Act, arrest under secret evidence act, vilification and hate crimes all demand the need for a more active interaction.
